Postcard with a touch of style "country" in natural tones

The postcard looks very cute and original, and it is applied to natural restrained tones. The sharp contrast of materials - coarse raw burlap and refined iridescent organza and satin - gives a special interesting touch of simplicity and restraint.
Materials for the manufacture of this interesting postcard needlewoman can find among the remnants and shreds that are lying around after other handmade masterpieces. Thus, your card will not be expensive. Of course, you can correct the design of the postcard for your materials and desires. To make such a greeting card you will need:
- a piece of white or gray cardboard for the basis of the postcard size 29.4 x21 cm;
- a piece of patterned cardboard with an abstract golden-olive pattern measuring 14.7x21 cm;
- a piece of metallized cardboard in bronze color measuring 11x7 cm;
- a piece of burlap from the most ordinary economic bag of potatoes or sugar, pre-washed; burlap is sold in stores for creativity,but there it is unreasonably expensive, so you can get away with what is at hand;
- metallic Lurex thread of golden color for knitting or embroidery;
- about 1 m of satin ribbon 1 cm in width, soft cream color;
- patches of iridescent organza of a rich olive-golden color;

To begin, a piece of patterned cardboard must be prepared for the front of the postcard. To do this, along the long side, having deviated from the right edge by 3 cm, you need to glue the patterned braid. Carefully glue two strips of double-sided adhesive tape next to each other from one short edge to the other. Remove the protective layer and place the tape on the adhesive tape so that the free ends are left on both sides of about 3 cm. We press it so that it is firmly glued.

Now glue on the seamy side protruding ends of the tape. We do this with the help of two small pieces of scotch.

Temporarily set aside a large detail and proceed to decorating a small element made of metallic bronze cardboard. First you need a piece of burlap. Pay attention: the detail needs to be cut on an oblique - the direction of the cuts is shown in the photo. Thus, you will prevent shedding cuts. The cuts should be at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to the lobar and transverse threads of the web. We cut out a strip of about 9x4 cm in this way. It's okay if the rectangle is slightly skewed, and its sides are not perfectly even.

Now we take a pin with a thick edge and use it to unfasten the edges of the rectangle approximately 8 mm along the entire perimeter. Due to the fact that the sacking is cut out by a scythe, the edges will not crumble, but will acquire a fluffy fringe with the effect of some negligence. After you have ragged edges, try on the part. If it is too big, trim it to the size you need.

Then you need to glue a piece of burlap to the metallized cardboard. Using two strips of adhesive tape, glue the burlap along the long side of the rectangle closer to one edge.

The finished piece with sacking needs to be decorated with metallized gold lurex. Wind 5-6 turns across the part with the burlap closer to the right edge. Place the turns diagonally and crosswise. Tie a thread on the seamy side. For reliability, you can additionally secure the coils with tape or glue on the inside so that they do not move. You can also put glue or nail polish on the knot to fix it, although this is not necessary. On the front side, straighten the fringe so that Lurex walks over the burlap, but not over the fringe.

We postpone both cardboard parts and deal with the elements of the decor of the fabric. From the satin ribbon you need to roll five small roses. While folding the roses, if necessary, fasten the flower with pins. Thread a double thread into a thin needle. Sew all the layers of the rose so that the thread is not visible on the front side. Then lead the thread to the front side in the middle of the flower and sew one paillette and one bead. Take the thread to the wrong side, secure it with a knot, but do not cut it.

So you need to prepare five roses. Organza need to carve out five circles with a diameter of about 5 cm.It's okay if the circles are crooked and even do not look like circles at all.

We light a candle and begin to process sections of the cut pieces of organza. If the cut is brought to the side of the flame, the cut will melt without being deformed. If the organza is brought on top of the flame, then melted, it will curve beautifully. The piece itself will significantly decrease in size. In this case, to obtain melted sepals in the form of a "cup", you need to carefully bring the organza with a cut on top of the flame. Work carefully so as not to burn the whole piece of organza and your own fingers.

When all five sepals are ready, you need to sew a rosette on each of them. To do this, lay the rose in the scorched "nest", pull the thread to the wrong side and make a few stitching stitches, grabbing both the organza and the lower layers of the satin ribbon. Do not cut the thread, but leave it on the wrong side.

The resulting roses need to decorate a small detail with burlap. Sew the roses to the small cardboard details, placing them as in the photo. Sew straight through all layers - cardboard, burlap, organza and tape.For each flower, make at least 3-4 stitches so that they are firmly and from all sides were attached to the cardboard. On the seamy side, fasten the thread with 1-2 knots and cut off the excess end of the thread. If in your knot you are not sure, drip on it with glue or varnish. Thus, sew four flowers to the small detail.

Sew the remaining one flower not to a small detail with a sacking, but to a patterned part with a border. Try on a small detail to understand where you will place it, and then sew the flower to the cardboard as in the photo or as you wish. Thread the thread on the wrong side and cut off the excess.

Ready decorated items need to be assembled together. Cover with double-sided tape the perimeter of the inside of the small piece of cardboard in bronze color. A couple of strips and lay in the middle, so that the part was better fixed. Remove the top protective layer and gently press the small part to the large one.

Now that the front side is fully prepared and assembled, it remains to collect the card itself. Big sheet of cardboard bend in half. To simplify and even bend it, first scratch the fold line with a thick needle.Then paste one part with double-sided tape around the perimeter, and attach several strips in the middle, as in the photo.
